The forecast for US41 dragway was clear and sunny for the entire Labor Day weekend. Jason Spasoff posted on facebook to thousands of fans, promoting what would be his rookie entrance into the grudge racing world. The event had been in the works for awhile, and it was finally time for it to blossom into a feast of rubber and race gas. Gage B was on site, waiting patiently in the pits. Around 1pm I receive the following text message:
At this point, I uploaded the Morocco, Indiana zip code to my Yahoo Weather app, grabbed on tight, and awaited Gage's reports of rain. Around 3:30pm the rain had broken, and the track began to dry up. The crew at 41 worked their asses off to make the surface as presentable as possible. Additionally, the race had a curfew of 10pm, which was lifted to honor all the racers that waited out mother nature's little bitch fest. Below is a list of the entry rules, payouts and classes, for your viewing pleasure:

Jason also took the time to run through some questions for us. Here is the full discourse of our interview. We asked that he come to the booth in his underwear, he refused. Sorry to all the guys and ladies wishing they has a sneak peak, but we tried.
Hello Jason, we have a few questions we'd like to pound out, in an effort to better connect your race to the humans that weren't able to attend. If there is anything you don't feel comfortable answering, skip it and continue on. Things get weird towards the end. Lets get things rolling with some easy questions, what is your legal US name, and where do you normally shop for groceries?
Jason Spasoff and I don't grocery shop, I end up buying a cart full of junk food. The girlfriend holds down the household shopping.
Weather was a factor early in the day, how did you and the crew cope with the issue, and how did the racers/crowd respond?
Man, I've never seen mother nature be so rude. Friday we had a 20% chance of rain and got 1β hail, 60mph winds, and 4β of rain in 45 minutes, flooded everything! Going into Friday night, we had a 10% chance of rain for Saturday. 7Am brought lighting, wind, and downpours. The rain keep looming overhead and didn't stop until 3pm. I almost made the call to cancel the event at 12pm, but I had too many racers that had stuck with me through 2 days of rain to give up on them even knowing I would take a large loss. The racers all loved that we kept pushing forward to get the show on. The track went above and beyond to let us run until 2am when they have a 10pm curfew. The weather scared away a LOT of the prospective spectators, but the ones that did come LOVED the show!
When did you decide to create Spasoff Productions, and who has been your biggest supporters?
Early in 2015. My girlfriend Andrea has been my #1 supporter, she supports all of my crazy ideas!
At what point did you feel a demand from the people to put an event on like this Labor Day shootout?
It's something I've been wanting to do for a couple of years now, but didn't have a track I felt confident to work with to host the event. As soon as US41 Motorplex was purchased by the new owners early this year, I approached them about securing the date.
What was your ultimate goal in bringing this to the people?
I wanted to bring the fans some of the baddest N/T cars from states all over! Even with mother nature interfering, we were able to provide some seriously awesome parings and exciting passes!
If you had to choose one group/class to race with out of all allotted, which would it be and why?
The Ultimate door car. I had 1 car show up for that class, even with a guaranteed $1500 addition to the pot from myself.
What was the most exciting pass of the night to watch?
Fugitive vs Timmy Meissner, that was one wild wheelie by the Fugitive
Who were the ultimate winners in each of the classes?
4 way split for the 28/29 class. Szabo, Timmy, Grinch, and Tony v. JP for Street. Richie Cannon for Unlimited door car. Slow Pony for the 26β.
Favorite track to race at personally?
For local tracks, US41 Motorplex. When it comes to traveling, there are so many awesome tracks out there to pick just one. Cecil county was amazing to us when we were out there this year, but we spend more time at Milan Dragway than any other track when it comes to traveling.
What was the first vehicle you owned?
1979 Chevy Corvette
Hip hop or Country music?
Neither. House or Trance is my preference.
Steak or Chicken?
Steak
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxer briefs
You're stuck on an island with one human, it has to be someone from the racing community you cant stand, who's the worst choice and why?
I really can't think of one.
Would you be willing to do full frontal nudity for a photoshoot?
Man, I want to answer this question in a fun way, but I have to keep it PC
List of people you'd like to thank from the event?
Oh man, I'll try and remember them all. No specific order. Tyler Crossnoe, Joe Moller and his dad, Josh Summit , Michael Buzonik, Trent Eckhardt, Shon Webb, JJ, Jay Allard, Tim Ringer , Andrea Klein, Conrad Victor, Tony Steffens, Jay Payso from Payso Productions, Brad Goldring from 5252rpm.com, and the entire track staff!
Many thanks go out to Jason for taking the time to sit down with Clapd Out. Now as per usual, we stop all this BS reading nonsense, and look at some racecars. Thanks again to Gage B for keeping up mobile correspondence and providing us some badass footage! Couldnt do it without him!
