In the year Two Thousand Ought' Fifteen, I became a part of the group known as Dynosty, hailing from Louisville, Kentucky. Upon my arrival to the fair city of Lewis-ville, my new captain/paycheck provider also provided me with the opportunity to accompany the team to Las Vegas, Nevada for the annual SEMA show. Two major issues with his decision; first; I shouldn't be allowed in public, second; I shouldn't be allowed in public representing his business....All jokes aside the trip was an enormous blessing and provided our team with another round of industry leading innovation education, as well as a slew of over-fenders to gawk at. Pictured below, we see Marcus, Hal, Doug Paddock (owner of the Mustang pictured), and Brock.
Before leaving for Las Vegas, the guys warned me to buy a new pair of shoes, as we would be walking 432 miles a day. I realized very quickly this wasn't a joke by any means. Hal shows up to the airport in some orthopedic Doc Martins, Brock has a set of military grade combat boots, and Marcus wheels up in an electric scooter. MEANWHILE, I'm in the back of the pack with a pair of blown out sneakers and a set of socks with more holes than Obama's foreign policy agenda. POLITICAL JOKE. I AM SO INTELLIGENT. After a brief layover in Chicago, we land in Las Vegas and settle in at our honeymoon suite in the Venetian. Pictured below is Brock, preparing our plush pull out couch for an evening of romantic comedies and Moscato.
The following day we woke up at 0500 hours, because Brock has a rooster implanted in his cerebellum that wont allow him to enjoy any amount of vacation. After we took turns cleaning the travel off our bodies, we hit the show. Walking the booths, meeting vendors we have only spoken to via email, and putting names to faces was an absolute joy. This industry can be cold at times when dealing with vendors and sales, SEMA allows it to open up and bring everyone together to celebrate each others work and dedication. Of course, there's always the mix of scenesters with poorly built vehicles, thrown together in hopes of a magazine feature in VAPE MONTHLY. Aside from this group, there was a slew of impressive builds. After two days of walking, several blisters on my feet, and around $67 lost on a blackjack game, we threw in the towel and headed to Maryland for World Cup Finals. I can't extend enough gratitude to Hal and the guys at Dynosty for making me feel like a part of the family in such a short period of time. This is the point in the Clapd Out article where our readers get antsy and wish to just scroll pictures. For your viewing pleasure, here are a few snaps from the trip.
